Ganesh Utsav 2011

Richly decorated pandal and Idol of Lord Ganesh, at one of the hundreds of pandals we can find all over Nagpur, Maharashtra and India during this period. (A "pandal" is a temporary hall.) The festival is called Ganesh Chaturthi and goes on for ten days, at the end of which the idol is immersed in local lakes/ponds/rivers. The trend today is to make eco-friendly idols made of mud which will dissolve in the water, and reduce the pollution.
